Wind Chime Flute Player / KUTANI CHOEMON
A beautiful wind chime has arrived from Kamidechoemon. It features the flute player dressed as an indigo dyer, previously depicted on a teacup they made for us, together with the three elephants that form the BUAISOU logo.
Made on the potter's wheel, the wind chime is inspired by traditional handmade copper cowbells from western India. Its pendulum, known as the clapper, is made from an octagonal piece of wood, creating a soft, gentle sound as it moves in the breeze.
At BUAISOU, we dyed the wooden clapper with indigo. For the hanging strip, we used indigo-dyed fabric backed with indigo-dyed washi paper.
“Kunpū ji nanrai” (薫風自南来) — It is a Zen phrase expressing the refreshing coolness of a southerly breeze passing through the room in the heat of summer.
The wind chime is now available at the BUAISOU STORE in Tokushima, and will also be available through our online store soon.

About Handcrafted Variations
Each piece is individually handmade and indigo-dyed.
As a result, natural variations in color, texture, and pattern are to be expected.
Please note that the appearance may differ slightly from what you see on your screen due to individual characteristics and monitor settings.
These variations are not imperfections, but part of the unique character and depth inherent to natural dyeing—something fundamentally different from printed or synthetic-dyed products.
